4-car pile-up kills one, injures 10 others
Tahoe driver flees crash near Ola

KAUFMAN–A
chain reaction turned an attempt to pass on a two-lane highway
into a deadly four car collision, resulting in one death and 10
being rushed to the hospital.
Mabank police chief Kyle McAfee and Kaufman Precinct 4 Constable
Bryant Morris, working an off-duty job in the vicinity, were
among the first to respond to Sunday night’s crash.
According to news reports the collisions occurred at 8:15 p.m.
on State Highway 243, about one mile east of Farm-to-Market 2515
near the Ola Community of Kaufman County.
Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Cpl. Robert White
told news agencies that the driver of a Cadillac Escalade was
westbound on SH 243 approaching a rise when he attempted to pass
a 2007 Chevy Silverado in front of him and struck an eastbound
Ford pickup head on.
The driver of the Chevy stopped to help, his vehicle contained
five other passengers, according to a news report the following
morning.
