All county and city offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 6, for Labor Day, as are the
banks and post offices.

The Monitor office will be closed for Labor Day Monday, Sept. 6. Display and word
advertising deadlines have been revised.
Display and word ad deadlines for the Sunday, Sept. 5, issue of The Monitor have passed.
Display ads for the Thursday, Sept. 9, issue of The Monitor are due by 4 p.m. Friday,
Sept. 3, and word ads are due by noon Tuesday, Sept. 7.
The display ad deadline for the Wednesday, Sept. 8, issue of The Lake Area Leader has
passed. Word ads are due by noon Thursday (today).
Westside Senior Center
The Westside Senior Center meets from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday (today and each Thursday)
at the Cedar Creek Bible Church activities building, 700 North Seven Points Boulevard (one
mile north of SH 274 traffic light).
Seniors 55 and older are invited to come for snacks, card and domino games. Free

Country music benefit
Free admission to a country music program at Poynor Civic Center is set for 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Thursday (tonight), benefitting the residents of the Frankston Health Care Center. The
Center is serving a meal from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Donations requested. Attendees may bring a

CCL 49ers club
The Cedar Creek Lake 49ers Senior Club meets 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday (tonight and every

CCL Garden Club
The Cedar Creek Lake Garden Clubs first meeting of the new year is set for 11:30
a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, in the community room at Tomlinsons Funeral Home. Meeting
begins with covered dish luncheon, followed by a program presented by master gardener
Margaret Ann Trail.
St. Jude Friday fish fry
The Knights of Columbus and Saint Jude Catholic Church is hosting an All You Can
Eat fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3 (the first Friday of each month
through Dec. 3). Ticket includes catfish, french fries, hush puppies, coleslaw, drink and
baked goods as long as they last. Church location is Luther Lane, behind Pizza Hut.
Profits benefit local, state and national charities.
Spanish class offered
Call and sign up for an informal no-cost Spanish language class from 11 a.m. to noon each
Saturday at Tri-County Library. Class will be scheduled when enough interested parties

VFD blood drive
The Seven Points Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a blood drive from 1 to 4 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 4, in the Brookshires parking lot, Seven Points. Must be at least
17, or 16 with parental consent. Everyone must have a picture ID. A free T-shirt for
donors, plus other Labor Day events hosted by Brookshires.
Tool MDA boot drive
The city of Tool Volunteer Fire Departments annual Muscular Dystrophy Association
