Fish Fry Fridays
The Knights of Columbus Council 8806 is hosting its third annual fish fry events from 5 to 7 p.m. Fridays, March 19 and 26, at St. Jude Catholic Church on Luther Lane, GBC. Proceeds benefit local, state, national and worldwide charities.

Computer classes

Kemp Seniors Project Graduation 2010 is hosting a rummage sale Sunday through Monday, March 14-22, at 17940 State Highway 274, Kemp.

Rootseekers to meet
The Rootseekers Genealogy Society meets at 7 p.m. Monday, March 15, at Tri-County Library. Speaker is Betty Foster. Meetings are open to the public. From 9:30 a.m. to noon Tuesdays, someone will be at the library in the genealogy room to assist in research.

Senior Game Day
Senior Game Day is set begin at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, at Brawner Hall, GBC. Guest speaker is Raymond Neal of Bridgeway Health Services. Free skating

The Southeast Kaufman Senior Citizens Center is sponsoring a covered dish dance with live country music from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, at the Center, 300 N. Dallas, Kemp. All ages welcome.

Tool Trash-Off
The annual Trash-Off for the city of Tool starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 20, at the city’s maintenance barn, corner of Sunset and Tool Drive. Bring ID, such as a driver’s license, utility bill or voter registration card. Not accepting paint, Freon, tires, roofing material, hazardous items and carpet. AL corned beef benefit
The American Legion Post 310 is hosting a corned beef and cabbage supper, with fixings and dessert, from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 20, until the pot runs empty. Proceeds benefit the spring Auxiliary Scholarship fund.

Garvin fund-raiser
The Kemp Municipal Police Association is hosting a benefit spaghetti dinner fund-raiser for Officer Kenneth L. Garvin from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 21, at Chambless Feed Store, Kemp. Garvin, a veteran Kaufman County police officer, has had recent health problems. The KMPA fund-raiser benefits his medical expenses until he returns to work. Kaufman County Urban Forester seeks the largest pecan tree in the county. Nominations close Monday, April 5. The tree must be located in Kaufman County. The AARP is offering free income tax assistance by volunteers through Wednesday, April 14, at the following locations: from 8 a.m. to noon Mondays at The Library at Cedar Creek Lake in Seven Points, from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesdays at the Senior Citizens Center, 503 North Terry Street, Malakoff, and from 8 a.m. to noon Fridays at the HC Senior Center, Athens.

Meals on Wheels drivers
The Kemp Senior Citizens Center is in desperate need of volunteer drivers for Meals on Wheels. The Kemp route takes only about 20 minutes.
