GUN BARREL CITY–In order to address the illicit use, transportation, and distribution of illegal drugs, the Gun Barrel City Police Department recently purchased a drug detection K-9 to assist in enforcement of drug related crimes in the city.
Arco, a two-year-old Begian Malinois was obtained with Asset Forfeiture funds and will be partnered with Officer Jason Lee during daily patrol activities. Arco has undergone extensive training in the detection of most commonly abused and trafficked drugs to include marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine, and heroin.
Although Officer Lee will be utilizing Arco while patrolling the streets of Gun Barrel City, he will be available to assist our law enforcement partners in the Cedar Creek Lake community when other resources are not available.
Arco looks forward to interacting with members of the community to increase awareness and deter the use and possession of illegal drugs in and about Gun Barrel City.
