Vickie Kennerk of Gun Barrel City wanted to do something to honor the healthcare workers who are sacrificing their own safety to be on the front lines in the fight against COVID-19 when she saw an idea on a newscast that caught her attention. Viewers in Dallas were tying white ribbons on trees to honor healthcare workers, so Kennerk tied ribbons on trees on her property on Robin Hood Way, hoping the idea would catch on. “Being 1,000 miles from family I wanted to show my support. I have four nieces working in hospitals in Northeast Indiana, plus my longest Texas friend’s daughter is a nurse in one of the Baylor hospitals,” she told The Monitor. We thought it was a wonderful idea. If you do too, take photos of your trees and send them to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will post them on our Facebook page: The Monitor - Cedar Creek Lake.
