EAST TEXAS–The North and East Texas Press Association (NETPA) in conjunction with the Texas Press Association (TPA) is accepting applications for scholarships. NETPA and TPA will award two $1500 scholarships, one to a graduating high school senior and one to a currently enrolled college student.
All applicants must be from the area served by NETPA and college applicants must have a declared major in journalism/communications/photojournalism. Preference is given to print media majors.
Applicants should submit a completed application including a resume that includes scholastic, athletic, and community activities. Students must provide a current official transcript certified by the school or college registrar.
High school students should submit three letters of recommendation: one from a dual credit college English instructor, one from a publication adviser or local newspaper supervisor of which the student has been employed, and a person of applicant’s choice. College applicants are not required to submit letters of recommendation.
All applicants must submit clips of published works, including publication dates. Photocopies of work as published in newspaper, yearbook, magazine or eEditions will also be considered. Applications must be postmarked by Thursday, March 19 to be considered and winners will be notified by Wednesday, March 25.
