GUN BARREL CITY– Both Gun Barrel City and the city of Mabank came together for fun, fellowship and bragging rights Friday, July 6 at Gun Barrel City Park for the 2nd Annual city softball game with GBC taking the victory in 2018. After a rough loss to Mabank last year, Gun Barrel City was looking for some revenge this year. After the announcement of the lineups of both teams by Scott Tuley, third-grade Mabank ISD student Adisynn Kiker was honored before the game.

Kiker announced that for her birthday on Friday, she wanted to bypass any gifts for her eighth birthday and instead wanted people in the community to donate food to the Humane Society at Cedar Creek Lake to help feed the animals. Alongside Tuley and Humane Society Board President Lanette Ainsworth, Kiker and the surrounding community were able to donate over 13,000 lbs. of food to the animal shelter.
