Cross Roads looking for first win since 2017 season
CROSS ROADS–The Cross Roads Bobcats are looking for a hint of consistency as they look for more success in their fourth year under Head Coach Daniel Pierce.
The Bobcats have managed just one win in the three seasons under Pierce and are looking to return to the postseason for the first time in over 15 years.
“We’re just trying to make sure we’re healthy and ready for when the season starts,” Pierce said. “Being in such a tough district, we have to stay healthy. Once we’re healthy, we can execute and once we execute, we can have success.”
The pre-district schedule is set up to match the different styles of teams the Bobcats will come in contact with in district play and Pierce believes this will help the Bobcats be more prepared when that time comes.
“What we try to do is to find teams that will mirror the other teams to set up district as far as same offense, same defense and things like that. Also, playing faster teams will help us prepare for the speed that we’ll need in district.”
The leadership has really been a big part of the Bobcats team coming into the 2019 season and many upperclassmen have taken that step to become leaders.
“The seniors have really taken on that leadership role,” Pierce stated. “All of our seniors have been at the varsity level since freshman year and I really like the way they’ve turned it around to lead the team in the right way.”
The Bobcats begin their hunt Aug. 30 at Bobcat Stadium in Cross Roads as they take on the Blooming Grove Lions with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.
