Bulldogs remain perfect, move to 6-0 in district

KEMP–The Eustace Bulldogs powered through offensively in a strong first half to pick up a district victory over the Kemp Yellowjackets on the road Jan. 12.
The Bulldogs racked up 20 points in the first quarter on their way to a 51-33 win over the ’Jackets Friday night.
Eustace put Kemp in an early hole, courtesy of a three-point shot from Jr. Patek, putting the Bulldogs in front 5-0. A layup late in the first quarter from Kemp’s Jaden Gonzalez closed the gap to 8-6 before a three-pointer from McCoy Patek increased the Bulldogs’ lead to 13-8. 
Jr. Patek added a late three-pointer to give Eustace a 20-8 lead after the first quarter.
Cooper Reeve knocked down two early free throws in the second quarter to push Eustace’s lead to 22-8. Kemp outscored Eustace 7-3 the remainder of the first half with Halen Cromer knocking down a shot at the buzzer to reduce Eustace’s lead to 25-15 at halftime.
The Bulldogs put in the first four points of the second half, leading to a ’Jackets timeout with 5:55 remaining in the third quarter. Eustace outscored Kemp 15-8 in the third quarter to take a 40-23 lead into the final eight minutes of play. 
Eustace ended the game on an 11-10 run over Kemp to pick up another district win to move to 6-0 as they sit in a first-place tie with the Malakoff Tigers. The Bulldogs move to 11-3 overall on the season with a four-game winning streak intact.
Kemp drops to 0-4 in district play with a 6-8 overall record in the 2020-21 season.
Cooper Reeve led the Bulldogs with 22 points with Jr. Patek notching 17 points in the win over the ’Jackets.
Deacon Thompson and Dustin Tutle each had nine points during their district battel against the Bulldogs Tuesday night.
