KERENS–Kerens Chamber of Commerce Business of the Month is Bubba Jean’s Restaurant. Owner Bubba Jean Pogue and his family run restaurant came to Kerens in May 2019.
Every weekend they offer a home cooked noon buffet starting at 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Chicken fried steak and gravy, fried fish, meat loaf served with a variety of potatoes and vegetables, not to forget a full salad bar and choice of desserts with a scoop of ice cream. They also have homemade pies –chocolate, coconut and buttermilk are just a few. They also have an evening buffet from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Bubba Jean’s offers a seafood buffet on Friday and Saturday evenings from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. with all kinds of seafood – fish, shrimp and alligator just to name a few. Saturday mornings they have a breakfast buffet. On the weekends it is not unusual for them to serve as many as 400 customers from all around. They also serve steaks, and hamburgers off their menu. As of now, they employ 14 people.
One other way they serve the community is to cater to senior citizens by delivering meals to them at their home. They also cater to police and firefighters any kind of public servant.
Make the trip to visit Bubba Jean’s Restaurant and you will not be disappointed. If you don’t feel full when you leave, it is your own fault. Their summer hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday thru Saturday. They rest on Sundays.
