Hold public hearing on tax rate, proposed budget, rescind burn ban

HENDERSON COUNTY–No one spoke during the public hearing portion of commissioners’ court Sept. 11 on either the proposed budget or the proposed tax rate. The proposed tax rate of .477984 per $100 valuation has been maintained for several years according to County Judge Richard Sanders and will come up for vote Sept. 25 at the regular meeting.

The proposed budget reflects revenue of $42,212,065 and expenditures of $42,147,781. $1,223,668 more will be raised in taxes or nearly 5 percent more than last year. Of that, $334,868 is from new property added to the tax roll.
