KERENS–During a Tuesday, Sept. 24 special session, Kerens City Council officially accepted the resignation of former police Chief Bryan Miers and blessed Mayor Jeffrey Saunders’ appointment of Roy Ivey as head of the department.
Ivey has been with the Kerens Police Department about 12 years and previously served as sergeant as well as acting chief during Miers’ absence.
Also during the special session, council members voted to make The Monitor the official newspaper of the City of Kerens, an action which allows municipal legal notices to run in the publication.
