Bobcats searching for wins in non-UIL schedule
CROSS ROADS–The Cross Roads Bobcats, in a not so normal 2020 season, took a step further as they will play a non-UIL schedule for the next two seasons, searching for success.
The Bobcats have struggled the last few seasons but hope a look at some new faces will bring a spark, and a few more wins during the 2020 season. Cross Roads finished the 2019 season without a win for the second straight year. The Bobcats last won Nov. 3, 2017 on the road against Cayuga.
With the addition of the COVID-19 pandemic playing a huge part in everything this year, Head Coach Daniel Pierce says his team has adjusted well in the first few weeks back.
“They’ve handled it very well, I have to give them that,” Pierce said. “Sometimes it’s day by day, sometimes hour by hour, but our kids have stuck together, and I like how we’ve handled it so far.”
With the Bobcats playing a rogue schedule this year, the focus remains the same entering the 2020 season for Cross Roads.
“Nothing changes for us,” Pierce said of the non-UIL schedule approach. “We’re just expecting a great season. We want to go up against the best, we want to play the best and we want to be the best, so that’s what we look for everyday from these kids and from us as a program, so we’re expecting great things.”
Cross Roads kicked off their season Aug. 28 at home against the Dasche Spartans.
The Bobcats then wrap up their regular season Nov. 5 at home against the Palmer Bulldogs.
