Dean Albert Olson

Dean Albert Olson peacefully left this life to be with the Lord May 7, 2020. He was born to Albert and Ruth Olson of Forest City, Iowa March 28, 1929.
He graduated valedictorian in 1947 and married his high school sweetheart Gwen Aspenson. The two moved to St. Paul, Minn., where he earned BAs in History and Philosophy from Bethel University.
Eventually he went on to Seminary, became an ordained minister, and served the Baptist churches of Bottineau, N.D., Torrington, Wym., Topeka, Kan. and Des Moines, Iowa.
Over the years, he achieved a master’s degree in Psychology and a doctorate in Religion. He divorced in 1975, married the love of his life, Janice Collier Moore, and they remained together for 44 years. He left the ministry to pursue a legal career as a lawyer and a judge.
He was passionate about serving the disadvantaged. At the age of 78, Southwestern University in Georgetown recruited him to teach legal ethics and business law.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents and brother Marvin.
He is survived by wife Janice, sister Jo Ann (Bob) Stroup, daughters Kim Olson and Deanna Funk, grandchildren Misty and Megan Funk and beloved step-children Jennifer (Mike) Wilkinson, Scott Moore, Brad (Marsha) Moore and Derek (Brenden) Moore.
This kind and loving man will be missed by nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren and all who knew him.
