KERENS–An unexplained death occurred at the Kerens ISD construction site July 29.
Berry and Clay Construction said the death was not an accident by the construction crew nor did it violate any OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines.
It is reported the victim was Tom Tucker, 62, of Whitehouse and worked for Cooper Plastering, Inc. of Tyler.
The construction crew had gone to lunch and found Tucker unconscious on the ground after they returned to the site around 12:20 p.m.
Responding to the call were Kerens Fire Department, Kerens Police Department and Corsicana EMS. Life saving measures were taken but after a reasonable amount of time were terminated at the medical directors call.
The death is considered an unattended death and an investigation is pending. No foul play is being considered at this time.
Kerens ISD has posted a brief note of condolences on their Facebook page and Cooper Plastering sent out a brief press release.
The services are under the direction of Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana.
