Don Richardson

Don Richardson went home May 11, 2018 at the age of 78. He was born Feb. 28, 1940 in Pecos to Margaret (Waddell) Richardson and Oscar Richardson. Don attended school in Pecos, Van Horn and graduated high school from New Mexico Military Institute. After graduating from Texas Tech University, he served with the U.S. Army in Libya, Iran and the Sudan. While in Libya he met his bride, Mary Ann (Nelson) and they married in Teheran, Iran. Don was employed by Brown & Root in Houston and worked in offices around the world including Bahrain, Teheran, Rotterdam, London and Saudi Arabia. He moved to the lake in 1980 and after several endeavors he established a Home Instead off ce, from which he retired in 2010. He was active in several lake area organizations, played golf, enjoyed fi shing and loved well. He was one of those rare people who could always make you feel so special. The man never met a stranger. Don loved to tell stories and you could always hear him in a crowd even before you saw him. Towards the end, he was still sharing his joy, love and often a few okes. Don is survived by his darling wife Mary Ann of 52 years, children DeEsta Richardson Garrett and husband Steve of College Station, Wade Richardson of Las Vegas and Missy Richardson Warner and husband John of Missouri City, six grandchildren Don Richardson Tara Richardson, Aaron Garrett, Hunter Richardson, Riley Garret, Jacob Warner and Mason Warner, as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday May 19, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church Mabank. If desired, the family requests memorial donations be made in Don’s name to One Man’s Treasure, or a charity of your choice. He taught his family to “Keep On Keeping On” and that is what we will do!
