CEDAR CREEK LAKE–Giving to those in need and paying it forward are some of life’s greatest honors. The East Texas Giving Day is one of the most important fundraising days of the year with many non-profits participating.
This day brings the region together as one community, raising money and awareness for local nonprofits. The event is designed to inspire people to give generously of both time and treasure to nonprofits helping to make our region stronger, creating a thriving community for all.
One Cedar Creek Lake Area non-profit that is participating is the Community Food Pantry in Tool. Executive Director and Co-Chair of the Community Food Pantry in Tool Vicki Dumont said, “East Texas Giving Day is the most important fundraising day of the year! Early giving began April 5 and will end on the big day of April 27.  Thanks to the generosity of our matching donors, the donations made online at https://www.easttexasgivingday.org/CommunityFoodPantryinTool will be doubled up to $15,000,” says Dumont.
Dumont stated that the community food pantry is a 100% volunteer organization and all donations are used solely for the operation of the pantry. “We are also really excited about opening up the pantry May 3 for Client Choice shopping. The donations received from the community are all gratefully accepted,” Dumont says.
The 18-hour online giving challenge officially happens April 27 but like Dumont stated you can start your impact today by making a donation to one of the participating nonprofits early.
The Community Food Pantry plans to use the proceeds earned from East Texas Giving Day towards new computer equipment is that allows volunteer staff to provide Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and client registration assistance each day the pantry is open for business. A monitoring system for the refrigeration units will also be purchased. The monitoring system will allow the pantry to protect the food assets purchased with donations. The donations received will be used to continue the food distribution operation and enhance services offered to the community.
