Boys wrap up top spot at Tyler Lee Classic, girls finish fifth
TYLER–The Eustace Bulldogs boys’ varsity cross country team took home first place at the Tyler Lee Classic at The University of Texas at Tyler campus Sept. 7.
The varsity girls’ cross country team took fifth place Saturday morning at UT Tyler.
The varsity boys’ team finished with 103 points, 19 more than Crandall who finished in second place.
Out of 180 total runners, Eustace’s Jake Haney took 10th (18:20.93), Joseph Hunter finished 15th (18:55.23), Jimmie Skeeters at 22nd (19:08.7), Francisco Gomez finished 27th (19:17.19), Caleb Gonzales at 29th (19:25.02), Danny Stout took 32nd (19:32.65) and Jackson Byrum rounded out at 35th (19:39.19).
The Eustace varsity girls finished fifth behind Troup, Canton, Crandall and Mineola.
The girls’ division had 171 runners Saturday morning. Jeanne Pickett finished 14th (13:39.85) for Eustace, Madisen Kulsa at 34th (14:15.78), Krislynn Westbrook took 35th (14:16.78), Elexis Porte at 40th (14:21.08), Paige Row finished 45th (14:24.78) and Tabitha Rigby at 64th (14:50.58).
Eustace cross country returns to action Sept. 12 at the Miller Grove Invitational.
The Mabank Panthers varsity boys’ cross country squad finished with 189 points, good enough for sixth place.
Angel Gallegos took home an eight-place finish for Mabank (17:55.96), Emidio Campa at 21st (19:07.6), Gage Hardin took 30th (19:25.75), Brenden Dennie finished 63rd (20:19.93), Ethan Smith at 67th (20:25.21) and Chris Guttuso finished 85th (21:01.91).
Mabank’s next meet will take place Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Gerald Ritchey meet in Dallas at the Jesse Owens Complex.
