Eustace boys’ XC wins State title

Bulldogs take home second straight State championship

ROUND ROCK–The Eustace boys’ cross country team participated in the UIL Cross Country State Championships at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock Saturday, Nov. 9.
The boys were up against the best in the state of Texas and were able to come out on top and win the meet.
This is the second straight State championship for the Eustace boys’ varsity cross country team.
In the 3A division, the boys placed first out of the 16 teams and 150 individuals and had a total of 85 points, besting second place by 27 points.
In the 5k (3.1 miles) race distance, the team earned an average time of 16 minutes and 25 seconds.
They were led by senior Dalton Page, who placed second overall and ran a time of 15:43, earning All-State honors.
Close behind was senior Jaden Lopez, who placed 10th overall, running a time of 16:08 and earning All-State honors.
Next was sophomore Trenton Porte, who took 18th and ran a 16:21 and earned All-State honors.  
Senior Colby Carpenter placed 35th and ran a 16:46 while senior John Saine placed 58th and ran a 17:08.
Senior Collin Sutton placed 61st and ran a 17:13 and junior Nate Holland wrapped up the field for the Bulldogs at Round Rock, placing 84th and finishing with a time of 17:30.
