Eustace sweeps Kemp, moves to 7-1

EUSTACE–The Eustace Lady Bulldogs picked up another district win over the Kemp Lady Yellowjackets at home Oct. 5.
Eustace defeated Kemp in straight sets to keep pace in their tough district as moved to 7-1 in district play, just one game behind the No. 19-ranked Scurry-Rosser (8-0).
Kemp got the first point of the first set on a block from Ziraya Harper before the Lady ’Jackets opened a gap with a 7-1 lead over the Lady Bulldogs.
Eustace slowly battled their way back before an Avery Reeve ace tied the set, 14-14.
A tip from Lyra Landrum put the Lady Bulldogs in front for the first time in the set, 18-17.
Emma Fisher delivered a kill to make it 23-20 in favor of Eustace before an ace by Kemp’s Samantha Woods closed the gap to 23-22.
Lady Bulldog Trayli Tandarich got the final push as Eustace was victorious, 25-23, in the first set.
Kemp landed themselves an early lead again in the second set as they went ahead 3-1 with Eustace eventually tying it 7-7 on an ace from Emma Bell.
A 9-4 run from the Lady Bulldogs made it 16-11 in favor of Eustace, forcing a Kemp timeout.
An ace late from Kemp’s Danica Barnett cut the deficit to 17-14, but Eustace closed the door on a Lady ’Jackets comeback with a 25-19 second-set victory.
Eustace had an early 4-3 lead in the third set before Kemp stormed back in front 9-5, forcing Eustace’s first timeout of the night.
Eustace used their second timeout of the set after another kill from Barnett gave the Lady ’Jackets a 17-12 lead.
A kill from Eustace’s Landrum tied the set 17-17, leading to a Kemp timeout.
Back-to-back kills from Landrum and Bell out of the timeout gave Eustace their first lead of the set, 20-18.
Tandarich blocked an attempted kill to give Eustace the 25-19 set victory and the clean sweep over Kemp.
