Bulldogs clinch No. 4 seed, take on Grandview in Bi-district round
SCURRY-ROSSER–The Eustace Bulldogs clinched the No. 4 seed for the Bi-district round of the playoffs with their loss to the Palmer Bulldogs Feb. 21 at Scurry-Rosser High School.
Palmer picked up the first points of the night on a three-pointer before a basket from Tucker Reeve made it a 3-2 game.
Palmer finished the quarter with eight unanswered points with Eustace’s only two points coming courtesy of Reeve as they trailed 11-2 after the first quarter.
An early free throw from Paxton Schwartz, followed by a three-pointer by Cade Adair made it an 11-6 game early in the second quarter.
Eustace got late three-point shots from Schwartz and Gabriel Ocanas as Palmer led 19-12 at halftime.
Cooper Cates knocked down the first basket of the second half to cut the deficit for Eustace to 19-14.
A four-point play began an important 13-0 run for Palmer to widen the gap to 32-14.
Two free throws from Adair broke up the Palmer run to make it 32-16 at the end of the third quarter.
Eustace got late three-pointer from Ocanas and Cates, but it wasn’t enough as Palmer took the 47-28 victory.
Eustace was led by Ocanas with nine points. Cates, Adair and Reeve added five points each in the loss to Palmer.
The win clinches the No. 3 seed for Palmer as they will take on Keene Feb. 25 at Waxahachie High School.
The loss drops Eustace to the No. 4 seed as they will face Grandview Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. at Waxahachie High School in their Bi-district playoff game.
