MABANK–The Eustace Bulldogs made their way down Highway 175 to take part in the Mabank Panthers varsity baseball tournament March 11-13, winning first place.
Eustace was part of Pool B, along with Kemp, Palestine and Central Pollok. Mabank led Pool A with Mineola, Palmer and Pantego Christian.
The Kemp Yellowjackets and the Bulldogs kicked off the first game of the tournament Thursday morning with Eustace taking the victory, 8-2.
The Panthers faced the Palmer Bulldogs in the first game Thursday night, falling 10-1.
Mabank followed that up with a tie against Pantego Christian Friday morning before defeating the Mineola Yellowjackets 5-1 to set themselves up as the third seed in Pool A and facing Kemp Saturday morning.
Eustace would pick up a big 6-2 win over Palestine before falling to Central Pollok 9-4, but securing a spot in the championship game Saturday night against Pantego Christian.
Mabank would pick up a 7-4 win over Kemp with runs in four straight innings in the game before shutting out Kemp in the top of the fifth for the victory.
Eustace would use a three-run second inning, along with single runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings to secure the championship Saturday night with a 6-4 win over Pantego Christian in five innings.
