Posted in:

Western Week begins June 22

MABANK–Public Management Inc. Vice President Ken Coignet spoke to the Mabank City Council June 4 regarding submission of an application for a TxCDBG (Community Development Block Grant) Fast Fund Grant.
The match amount is 5,000 and the grant maximum amount is $500,000.
If awarded, the money has to be spent by the end of the year  and will be used to purchase two new trucks and three pieces of equipment.
Applications are due next week and are statewide, which does not guarantee the grant will be awarded to the city.
In other news, council members:
• approved the purchase of a new Water Department truck to replace a wrecked vehicle. Received payment of $11,952.24 for the value of the totaled vehicle.
• heard wild pigs are damaging city property around the pavilion area. Traps are currently being set.
• heard 136 doors were tagged to remind homeowners to mow their grass.
• Western Week will be June 22-29. The week includes a rodeo, bed races, parade, chili cook-off and more.
