CEDAR CREEK LAKE–Rev up your engines and polish your classic beauties! It’s time once again for the annual “Rods at the Lake” Car Show. This year’s event takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 at Pinnacle Golf Club. In case of rain, the event will be held the following Saturday, Aug. 31.
The car show, which attracts entries from near and far, is sure to be a hit with car enthusiasts and welcomes all car clubs to participate. Awards are given in several categories, including the much coveted “Best in Show.”
Proceeds from the car show benefit Faith in Action Outreach Food Pantry in Malakoff. Faith in Action provides food, clothing and help with medication for needy families. They offer food pantry and clothing closet hours from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. every Thursday and sponsors a monthly produce drop on the first Tuesday of the month at the First Baptist Church of Malakoff’s Children’s Building. Since their inception in 2010, they have given away a ton of clothing free of charge and served thousands of families and individuals. In addition to caring for the physical needs of their clients, they have cried with, prayed with and talked with hurting individuals all over the area.
For the past several years, the Faith in Action Outreach team has provided food for elementary school students in the Malakoff, Cross Roads and Trinidad school districts through a program called the “Food for the Weekend.” Through this program the Faith in Action Outreach team provides food for the weekend for elementary school kids that otherwise wouldn’t get to eat until Monday morning when they get back to school. Every year this program continues to be expanded.
Come out to support this worthy cause, ooh and aah over the many wonderful entries, visit some vendors, eat some food and have a wonderful time with friends and neighbors. For more information, contact Mike Cromer (903) 451-1851.
