MABANK–First United Methodist Church of Mabank has set up a scholarship fund to aid high school seniors in their pursuit of higher education. The church, which has long been recognized for its efforts in outreach to the local community, recognizes the need for education funding in the area and has stepped up to help. Scholarships this year will be available to graduating seniors from Kemp, Mabank, Eustace and Malakoff High Schools, where applications have already been distributed to guidance counselors at the various ISDs. Four $2,000 scholarships will be awarded this year to be paid directly to accredited colleges or technical schools of the recipients’ choosing.
Applicants must be high school seniors graduating this year from one of the above high schools, have at least a 2.5 out of 4.0 GPA and be accepted at an accredited college or technical school. For more information, or to download an application, visit or contact your high school guidance counselor. Deadline for applications with required documentation is March 15.
