GUN BARREL CITY–Two people died in a house fire in the Oak Harbor Subdivision of Gun Barrel City Jan. 21.
Gun Barrel City and Payne Springs Fire Departments responded to the blaze at approximately 11 p.m. on Fernwood Drive. Firefighters pulled Lisa Miller, 47, and John Hallmark, 62, from the home to see if resuscitation was possible, but both were deceased.
Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 Kevin Pollock performed the inquest, ordered autopsies and transport to American Forensics in Mesquite. At this time, the deceased have been released to the funeral home.
The fire is still under investigation with the cause undetermined but Henderson County Fire Marshal Shane Renberg told The Monitor, “We have no reason at this time to believe the fire was suspicious, but especially in the case of fatalities, we are always diligent to make sure nothing turns up before closing the investigation.”
