GBC Fire Dept. cuts the ribbon on Legendary Lane station

Posted in:

GUN BARREL CITY–The Gun Barrel City Fire Department hosted members of the community and city government at a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new west side fire station on Saturday January 12. The new station is located at 330 Legendary Lane in Gun Barrel City. Attendees were treated to hot dogs, chips, cookies and soft drinks, as well as door prizes donated by several businesses.

In addition, members of Gun Barrel City Fire Department were on hand to interact with the citizens and give them tours of the fire apparatus that was on display. Also on display was an ambulance from UT Health, and a police car from the Gun Barrel City Police Department.

"We appreciate the support of the citizens who attended our ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday and the time we had to talk with them about the Gun Barrel City Fire Department. We are very proud of our new station. It is positioned in a critical location to protect the citizens on the west side of Gun Barrel City. The new station has shortened our response times. In just the last month, the equipment from this station has responded to four major residential structure fires and several medical calls within blocks of the station. We also appreciate the generosity of the citizens of Gun Barrel City for providing the funding to build this new fire station," said Fire Chief Joseph Lindaman.

"I have a number of companies and organizations that I would like to thank for supporting the ribbon cutting ceremony," said Chief Lindaman. "I want to thank Brookshire’s, Walmart and Chicken Express for their donation of food and beverages, and Whataburger, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Denny’s, Cochran’s, and Elder Dodge for donating door prizes. I want to thank members of the City Council, City Management and the City Manager who attended our ribbon cutting. I appreciate the support we receive every day of the year from you, along with the Mayor and the entire City Council. Thank you to GBC Police Department and UT Health for your participation Saturday. Finally, I would like to thank members of the media who helped publicize this event. Our ribbon cutting was a big success and we look forward to hosting another event at the station to interact with the community later this year.
