Spieth to play in Dell PGA tournament
AUSTIN–Professional Golf Association’s (PGA) World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play is set for March 27-31 at the Austin Country Club.
Native Texan Jordan Spieth and Sergio Garcia have both committed to play in the tournament as part of the best 64 players in the world return for the only individual match-play event on the PGA tour schedule.
This will be Spieth’s sixth career start in the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, where he has failed to advance out of the group stage each of the last two years. In 2018, Spieth won each of his first two matches before falling to Patrick Reed 2&1 in a highly anticipated elimination match for their group.
In addition to Spieth and Garcia, six of the top golfers in the Official World Golf Ranking have already committed to return to Austin Country Club, with Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Xander Schauffele, Jon Rahm and Francesco Molinari all set to compete in the match-play event along with 2018 tournament champion Bubba Watson.
Previous champions include Johnson (2017), Jason Day (2016 and 2014), Rory McIlory (2015) and Matt Kuchar (2013).
