Hornets dominate Eagles, move to 3-0

Athens remains unbeaten after week three

FAIRFIELD–The Athens Hornets’ offense overpowered the Fairfield Eagles on the road Sept. 11 as they rattled off 48 points in a shutout win. 
Hornets sophomore quarterback Tivon Arroyo had an impressive night, going 7/16 with 105 passing yards and three touchdown passes. Arroyo added 10 carries for 12 yards against the Eagles. 
Jecorey Roberts added five carries for 43 yards and one rushing touchdown for the Hornets. Senior Nathan Sims was a monster on the field with 16 carries for 164 yards and two touchdowns against the Eagles. 
Caleb Bennett added a 19-yard touchdown catch and D’andre Thompson had three catches for 45 yards and two touchdowns as the Hornets grounded the Eagles 48-0.
The win moves Athens to 3-0 to begin the 2020 season. The Hornets return to Bruce Field for their homecoming contest against the Wills Point Tigers Sept. 18 with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.
