Investigation leads to arrests

KAUFMAN COUNTY–A six-month long investigation that began with citizens’ complaints of drug activity led to felony drug arrests for a man and a woman Sept. 25.
The Kaufman County SWAT Team executed a search warrant for a residence in the 5300 block of County Road 120, Wills Point in rural Kaufman County. This investigation has been ongoing for approximately six months after several complaints of drug trafficking were made to Narcotics Investigators. The warrant was signed by Judge Casey Blair of the 86th Judicial District Court in Kaufman County.
At approximately 4:30 a.m., the KCSO Multi-Jurisdictional SWAT Team made entry into the residence and immediately located two adults, a male and female. Investigators found over 100 grams of Methamphetamines and over $5,000 in cash.
The female has been identified as Courtnie Powers, 31, of The Colony. The male has identified as Jimmy Gunter, 54 of Willis Point. Both Powers and Gunter were arrested and remain in custody at the Kaufman County Jail.
Jimmy Gunter Bond has been charged with Manufacture/Delivery Controlled Substance PG 1>=4G<200G Felony I , Tamper/Fabricate Physical Evidence Felony III, Warrant – Parole Violation. He is being held in Kaufman County Jail with no bond.
Courtnie Powers Bond was charged withManufacture/Delivery Controlled Substance PG 1>=4G<200G Felony I and Possession Controlled Substance PG 1>=4G<200G, Warrant – Van Zandt Co. SO, Felony II. Bond total $120,000.
