Funeral services for Joyce Pharr will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 172 Luther Ln. in Gun Barrel City, with interment immediately following at Tool Cemetery. Joyce M. (Uptmor) Pharr was born Sept. 5, 1939 in Tours to parents Charles and Tillie (Lucien) Uptmor and entered eternal rest Aug. 4, 2018 at the age of 78. Joyce was a lovable, stubborn, feisty, trouble maker, instigator with a positive attitude. She enjoyed going to the casinos, sewing and fishing. She graduated from West High in the town of West. She was then employed by Southwestern Bell for 30 years. She was a Catholic by faith and involved with St. Jude Catholic Church in Gun Barrel City. Joyce also volunteered with Southwestern Bell Pioneers. She was an extraordinary lady that will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Joyce was preceded in death by her sister Marcia Sulak. She is survived by her son Jerry Slovak and spouse Janice Pawlowski, daughter Jana Short and spouse Buddy, sisters Ruby Vrba, Charlene Scheler, brother Weldon Uptmor, grandchildren Austin Slovak, Ashley Winfield, Tyler Slovak, Dallas Slovak, Stacy Galbraith, Jordan Short, other loving family members, many more friends and Mike Dooley.
