Kemp dominates on Senior night

’Jackets perfect in run-rule victory over Trojans

KEMP–The Kemp Yellowjackets took down the Dallas Madison Trojans in an offensive outburst as they hosted Senior night April 25 at home.
Prior to their district contest against the Trojans, Kemp honored their seven seniors Dylan Ashcraft, Josh Stewart, Boomer Irvin, Cameron Clamon, Dakota Price, Mason Claver and Noah Herring for their athletic accomplishments with Kemp baseball.
The ’Jackets held the Trojans off the scoreboard in the top of the first inning before stepping to plate in the bottom half of the inning.
Kemp rattled off three runs in the bottom of the first inning to jump ahead of the Trojans 3-0.
The two teams went scoreless in the second inning before Kemp returned to the plate in the bottom of the third inning still in front 3-0. The ’Jackets added another four runs in the inning to move in front 7-0.
After holding the Trojans scoreless in the top of the fourth inning, the ’Jackets destroyed the ball at the plate in the bottom half of the inning with eight runs to down Dallas Madison 15-0 in four innings.
Clamon, Price, Ashcraft and Claver each combined to throw a perfect game for the ’Jackets in their shutout victory over the Trojans with Price picking up the win. Each pitcher saw one inning of action with Clamon striking out two batters, Price with one strikeout and both Ashcraft and Claver striking out the side as the four pitchers combined for nine strikeouts.  
Clamon also added two hits and two RBIs, Irvin knocked in two runs and Cameron Fiatte dominating with two hits and three RBIs. Claver picked up a hit and an RBI with Herring racking up three hits and three RBIs in the win over Dallas Madison.
Clamon and Ashcraft stole two bases each and Fiatte added three stolen bases Thursday night against the Trojans.
Kemp fell 2-0 to the Quinlan Ford Panthers April 26 in their warmup game for their Bi-district playoff series with Emory Rains.
Kemp will face off against Emory Rains in their best-of-three series. Game one will be April 25 at 8 p.m., game two April 26 at 8 p.m. and game three (if necessary) taking place April 27 at 7 p.m. All games will take place at Grand Saline High School.
