’Jackets stumble against Bulldogs on the road
PALMER–The Kemp Yellowjackets fell in their district road game against the Palmer Bulldogs April 5.
The ’Jackets fell behind in the bottom of the first inning after Palmer plated a run to take an early 1-0 lead.
The Bulldogs added two more runs in the bottom of the second inning to increase their lead to 3-0 over Kemp.
Both teams went scoreless in the next two innings before Kemp began their comeback.
The ’Jackets got on the board with two runs in the top of the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 3-2.
Palmer responded with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to increase their lead back to three runs at 5-2.
The Bulldogs wrapped up the win with two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as the ’Jackets fell 7-2.
The ’Jackets managed just three hits off the bats of Cameron Clamon, Cameron Fiatte and Dakota Price. Clamon added an RBI along with Ethyn Irvin.
The ’Jackets managed just two runs despite picking up nine walks in their game against the Bulldogs.
Price took the loss on the mound for Kemp, going four innings and surrendering five runs (three earned) on three hits with five walks and three strikeouts.
The loss drops Kemp to 4-14 overall on the season and 1-3 in district play.
The ’Jackets return to the diamond April 12 at home against Dallas Madison with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
