Kemp ISD Superintendent resigns

KEMP–Kemp ISD Board members met in a special meeting May 10 to discuss the contract of the Superintendent, including the proposed resignation/retirement agreement.
KISD Board Of Trustees elected to meet in closed session pursuant to section 551.071 of the Texas Government Code which lasted just under two hours.
When reconvened in open session, Board President Charissa Roberts stated, “I move that the board of trustees approve the resignation/retirement agreement with Dr. Lisa Gonzales in accordance with the terms discussed in closed session and I further move that the board authorize the board Vice President to execute that agreement on behalf of the board.” It was approved with no opposition.
Roberts continued, “I move that the Board of Trustees authorize the appointment of Jerri Henderson to serve as the Acting Superintendent starting May 12 and until such time as Arrow Educational Services brings an acceptable interim Superintendent to the board for consideration.” This second motion was also passed with no opposition.
Dr. Lisa Gonzales came to Kemp ISD in 2018 with 34 years’ experience in education and as a former Superintendent of Schools at Odem- Edroy ISD.
Dr. Gonzales has held Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, Director of Special Education, Principal and various elementary and secondary teaching roles.
Acting/Interim Superintendent Jerri Henderson was previously Assistant Superintendent at Scurry-Rosser ISD, and had been working with business office personnel at Kemp ISD.
Kemp ISD Board of Trustees plan to meet May 15 in a special meeting  to interview interim Superintendent applicants.
