HENDERSON and JACKSONVILLE–It was a great ride for the senior-laden Kerens Bobcats baseball team in 2018, ascending to No. 5 in the state before falling in the area round of the playoffs in a best two-ofthree series.
Linden-Kildare was the culprit in dashing those state-title hopes, beating the Bobcats in Game 2 (by the score of 8-3) and Game 3 (11-9), during doubleheader action in Jacksonville on Saturday, May 12. The night before, on Friday, May 11, Kerens took Game 1 at neutral-site Henderson High School, winning 11-9.
The Kerens Bobcats finish 2018 with a 22-8 overall record, including a perfect 15-0 district record, which marked the team’s third-consecutive undefeated district title under Coach Jayson Engel, who won his 200th game as a high-school baseball coach earlier this season.
