KERENS–The Kerens Lady ‘Cats scored the first 18 points of their Jan. 8 home contest against Cross Roads and never looked back to pick up a 45-18 victory in District 19-2A.
Kerens came off a Jan. 5, 24-21 district-opening win at Cayuga to move to 2-0, while Cross Roads lost at home to perennial powerhouse Martin’s Mill in its 19-2A opener. The teams also share the same district as another state blue blood, LaPoynor.

Kamryn Baker scored a Cross Roads basket early in the second half, but Kerens’ Wright scored all five of her team’s third-period points to help her team keep a commanding 35-12 advantage. Both teams traded three-pointers to close the 45-18 game, including one by Brooke Lawrence of Cross Roads, answered later by Kenadee Lynch of Kerens.
