Lady Bulldogs complete fourth-quarter comeback

PALMER–The Eustace Lady Bulldogs picked up their first district win of the season over the Palmer Lady Bulldogs Dec. 21.
In their third district game of the year, Eustace used a 16-point fourth quarter effort to take a 42-38 win over Palmer.
Palmer opened the first quarter on a 9-0 run before a layup from Lyra Landrum put Eustace on the board just over halfway through the first eight minutes.
Hannah White added the other lone score for Eustace as they trailed Palmer 14-4 entering the second quarter.
Eustace began to cut into the Palmer lead in the second quarter on an Avery Reeve three-pointer and some foul trouble cut into the deficit as Eustace trimmed the lead to 17-11.
Emma Bell hit a late three-point shot but Palmer held a 25-16 lead at halftime.
Reeve added another two points and Eustace outscored Palmer 10-5 in the third quarter as they trailed by just four points entering the fourth quarter.
Reeve added a layup and hit a three-pointer as Eustace trailed 34-32 shortly into the fourth quarter.
An offensive rebound from Landrum bookended a 10-4 run by Eustace to begin the quarter as they took their first lead of the game, 36-34.
Palmer made a late surge to tie the game 38-38. Eustace’s defense was strong in the fourth quarter as they forced multiple turnovers with Landrum putting Eustace back in front, 40-38.
Two late free throws from Reeve sealed the victory over Palmer to cap the comeback.
Reeve led the way for Eustace with 14 points in the win over Palmer.
Faith Haughwout added eight points in the win with Landrum notching six points for Eustace.
The win pushes Eustace to 9-9 overall on the season and 1-2 in district play.
