Eustace picks up sixth win over Elkhart at home

EUSTACE–The Eustace Lady Bulldogs kept their unbeaten streak alive to begin the 2020 season as they took down the Elkhart Lady Elks Aug. 28 at home.
The Lady Bulldogs made quick work of the Lady Elks with a three-set sweep, winning by scores of 25-12, 25-23 and 25-14. 
Eustace broke out to a 5-1 lead early over Elkhart in the first set. The Lady Bulldogs increased their lead to 15-7 after an ace by Havynn Mahaffey. 
Eustace wrapped up the first set on a 13-5 run, including a late block by Georgia Utz as they wrapped up the first set 25-12.
The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but the Lady Elks began to find their stride in the second set as they pushed back against Eustace to tie the set 7-7. 
After increasing their lead to 10-8, Eustace fell behind for the first time as the Lady Elks strung together an 8-2 run to move in front of the Lady Bulldogs, 16-12.
Eustace battled their way back to the set late 21-21. The Lady Bulldogs took the lead late, 22-21, after a kill from Emma Bell. Eustace closed out the set with a 25-23 win. 
Gracey Pitchford had back-to-back aces for the Lady Bulldogs in the third set to increase their lead to 12-5, forcing an Elkhart timeout. 
The Lady Elks battled late, but a service error on the match point gave the Lady Bulldogs the 25-14 set victory as they swept Elkhart, three sets to zero. 
The win moves Eustace to 6-0 on the season. The Lady Bulldogs take the court Friday, Sept. 4 at home against the Kemp Lady Yellowjackets at 4:30 p.m.
