Eustace uses big innings to top Kemp on the road
KEMP–The Eustace Lady Bulldogs put the bats to work against the Kemp Lady Yellowjackets Tuesday afternoon on the road.
The scoring was early and often for the Lady Bulldogs as Brooklyn Moore started the game off with an RBI single to score Alyssa Lane from second base to take a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Bulldogs then plated four straight runs without a base hit as they scored two runs on wild pitches, one on a passed ball and added another as Kayla Lovelady was hit by a pitch to increase their first-inning lead to 5-0.
Alyssa Lane stepped up to the plate for the second time and delivered a two-run double to make it a 7-0 game in favor of Eustace.
Gracey Pitchford picked three RBIs on one swing as she cleared the bases with a double to increase Eustace’s lead to 10-0 in the first inning.
Pitchford eventually made her way to third base and scored another passed ball to increase their lead to 11-0.
Dawson Davlin added one final infield RBI single as Eustace led Kemp 12-0 entering the bottom half of the first inning.
The Lady ’Jackets began their comeback in the bottom of the first inning as Madison Williams reached on a one-out single and scored on an RBI triple by pitcher Genesis Forman to get Kemp on the board.
Shelby Henderson added an RBI groundout to cut the deficit to 12-2 entering the second inning.
Nancy Paige Lowe added an RBI triple to make it 13-2 for Eustace to begin the top half of the second inning.
After an RBI groundout and RBI walk from Ashton Milner and Davlin, the Lady Bulldogs plated three runs to greet new Kemp pitcher Emri Carson to increase their lead to 18-2.
The Lady Bulldogs added one more run in the top of the second inning as they took a 19-2 lead into the bottom half of the inning.
Morgan Adrion scored on a wild pitch for Kemp to cut the lead to 19-3.
Carson plated another run on an infield RBI single before Forman added another RBI on a groundout to cut the deficit to 20-5.
Henderson picked up another RBI on a single for the Lady ’Jackets to make it 20-6.
Chloe Woods added an RBI single before the end of the second for Kemp as they trailed 20-7 entering the third inning.
Eustace added two more runs in the top of the third inning on an RBI single and an RBI sac fly from Lowe to make it 22-7 Eustace entering the bottom half of the inning.
The Lady ’Jackets stormed back with five runs in the bottom of the third inning to make it a 22-12 game to trim the deficit to 10 runs.
Eustace answered with another run in the top of the fourth inning with Kemp adding two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Lady Bulldogs crossed the plate six more times in the top of the sixth inning with Kemp responding with one run in the bottom half of the inning as Eustace picked up a huge 28-15 victory over the Lady ’Jackets.
Williams led the way for Kemp with four hits on the night with Forman driving in four runs for the Lady ’Jackets.
Lowe picked up the win for Eustace, going 5.2 innings with four strikeouts and even picking up three RBIS at the plate for the Lady Bulldogs.
Pitchford led the way at the plate for the Lady Bulldogs with a four-RBI night against the Lady ’Jackets.
The win moves the Lady Bulldogs to 5-11-1 on the season as they enter Spring break to take on Lee Monday, March 11 with first pitch scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
