Lady Bulldogs top Buffalo with strong defense

EUSTACE–The Eustace Lady Bulldogs picked up a pre-Thanksgiving victory over the Buffalo Lady Bison Nov. 23 at home.
The Lady Bulldogs’ defense held strong as they topped the Lady Bison, 33-23.
Avery Reeve put the first points on the board with a three-pointer. Reeve added another basket to increase the lead to 5-0.
Reeve added a late steal to set up a layup by Emma Bell to give Eustace an 11-8 lead.
Turnovers and fouls kept the game close as the Lady Bulldogs committed seven team fouls in the first quarter.
Emma Bell opened the second quarter with a three-point shot and Emma Fisher added the only other basket for Eustace as both teams struggled on offense. Buffalo added only one basket as the Lady Bulldogs held a 16-10 lead at halftime.
Lyra Landrum put in an early free throw in the third quarter to keep Eustace in front, 17-15.
Fisher picked up a late and-1 for the Lady Bulldogs, nailing the free throw to give the Lady Bulldogs a 22-18 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Fisher added another and-1 early in the fourth quarter to increase the Eustace lead to 22-18.
Reeve added three more baskets late in the quarter to seal the victory for the Lady Bulldogs, 33-23.
Reeve led the Lady Bulldogs with 11 points in the win over the Lady Bison.
Fisher added eight points with both Landrum and Bell notching five points apiece for the Eustace.
