Mabank drops home contest against Fairfield
MABANK–The Mabank Lady Panthers fell in four sets in their matchup against the Fairfield Lady Eagles Sept. 10 at home.
The Lady Panthers and Lady Eagles battled each other in the first set of the night. The two teams went past the usual 25 points needed for a win as neither team gave an inch. Mabank eventually would fall 28-26 to end the first set.
The Lady Panthers needed to respond with a win to avoid going in a 2-0 hole against the Lady Eagles.
Mabank battled to a 25-20 victory over the Lady Eagles to tie the teams at one set apiece.
The Lady Eagles came out on top in the third set with a 25-20 win to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five.
The two teams once again went back and forth in the fourth set with Mabank’s back against the wall.
The Lady Panthers couldn’t push the contest to a decisive fifth set as they fell to the Lady Eagles 25-22 in the fourth set as Fairfield won three sets to one.
The loss drops Mabank to 14-17 overall on the season.
The Lady Panthers hit the road Tuesday, Sept. 17 to take on Brookhill starting at 4 p.m.
