Malakoff tripped up in tough fourth inning
MALAKOFF–The Malakoff Lady Tigers dropped their district opener against the Mildred Lady Eagles March 19 at home.
The Lady Tigers fell behind early as the Lady Eagles plated one run in the top of the first inning and three runs in the top of the second inning as the Lady Tigers fell behind 4-0.
Malakoff finally got the offense kicked into gear with three runs in the bottom of the second inning to cut the deficit to 4-3 entering the third inning.
The Lady Eagles responded with a single run in the top of the third inning to take a two-run lead, 5-3.
The Lady Tigers jumped in front for the first time in the game with three runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 6-5 lead entering the fourth inning.
The Lady Eagles then exploded for 10 runs in the top of the fourth inning to regain the lead 15-6 as the team headed to the fifth inning.
The Lady Eagles plated four more runs in the top of the fifth inning with the Lady Tigers only scoring a single run in the bottom half of the inning as Malakoff fell 19-7 in five innings.
The Lady Tigers fell to the Lady Eagles despite getting four hits at the plate from Joey White.
The loss drops the Lady Tigers to 12-4 overall and 0-1 to begin district play.
The Lady Tigers return to the field March 22 on the road against the Rice Lady Bulldogs with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m.
