Malakoff opens Cedar Creek Classic with four straight wins
MALAKOFF–The Malakoff Lady Tigers went 4-1 recently at their home tournament February 28 through March 2.
The Lady Tigers began Thursday morning with a contest against the Mabank Lady Panthers.
The Lady Tigers rattled off four runs in the bottom of the first inning to take an early 4-0 lead.
Mabank answered with three runs of their own in the top of the second inning to cut the lead to 4-3.
The Lady Panthers picked up two more runs in the top of the fourth inning to push ahead of Malakoff 5-4.
The Lady Tigers answered with one run in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game 5-5 after four innings.
The Lady Tigers exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 13-5 win in their tournament opener in five innings.
Kinleigh Dalrymple picked up the win on the mound as she went five innings, striking out four. Dalrymple also produced at the plate, racking on two hits and four RBIs for the Lady Tigers.
The Lady Tigers then took on Elkhart in their second game Friday morning.
Elkhart jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before Malakoff plated four runs in the bottom of the first inning to regain the lead 4-2.
The Lady Tigers added two more runs in the bottom of the second inning to increase their lead to 6-2.
The Lady Tigers crossed the plate three more times in the fourth inning on their way to a 9-3 victory over the Lady Elks.
Dalrymple picked up another win for Malakoff as she went 4.1 innings on the mound, striking out two, including 13 first-pitch strikes.
Kelsea Boles and Katie Jack Crews provided the offense as they picked up two RBIs apiece for Malakoff.
The Lady Tigers took on the Cross Roads Lady Bobcats Friday afternoon to try and make it three straight wins.
The Lady Tigers plated two early runs in the bottom of the first inning to go ahead 2-0.
Cross Roads answered with two runs in the top of the second inning to tie the game 2-2.
The Lady Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning to move back in front 4-2.
