KEMP–The Malakoff Lady Tigers picked up their second district win of the season with a road win over the Kemp Lady Yellowjackets Sept. 24.
The Lady ’Jackets battled for a set victory to stay alive, but the Lady Tigers delivered the final nail in the coffin to win three sets to one.
An early kill from Malakoff’s Hillary Dawson put Malakoff in front 11-9.
Malakoff dominated the remainder of the set to win 25-17 over Kemp.
Kemp opened an early lead in the second after an ace from Sydney Hamilton put them in front 6-3.
Malakoff then went on a strong run with a tip from Camryn Gaddis pushing the Lady Tigers lead to 16-12.
Malakoff wrapped up the set on a 9-4 run to defeat Kemp 25-16.
After falling behind in the third set, an ace from Gaddis and a kill from Rayona Runnels gave Malakoff the lead, 13-12.
Kemp battled their way back and took control in the latter part of the set, winning the set 25-22.
Kemp took a timeout in the fourth set after Malakoff doubled up the Lady ’Jackets 12-6.
Kemp closed the gap on the Lady Tigers, tying the set 16-16.
Malakoff ended the set on a 9-6 run with Kylee James delivering the final kill as the Lady Tigers won three sets to one.
