Three-year-old Lauren Melton of Mabank is honored at a Frisco RoughRiders baseball game as she heads down the third baseline, receiving high fives from the RoughRiders’ players as she completes the Children’s Health Home Run for Life Aug. 26. Melton was born with a congenital heart disease known as tricuspid atresia, in which the tricuspid heart valve is missing or abnormally developed. The defect blocks blood flow from the right atrium to the right ventricle. Melton continues to fight everyday through prayers and support from family and friends as well as the community.
