KAUFMAN COUNTY - Leadership Kaufman County offers a dynamic program of personal development for county residents who are interested in perhaps one day running for local, county or state elected office, serving on Chamber or EDC boards, school boards, planning and zoning commissions, leading a civic club, church or human development organization. It is for persons who are concerned about community issues and interested in providing community service.
Classes meet one day per month, from September through May. Top professionals, community experts and newsmakers lead stimulating sessions as participants delve into compelling issues and topics. The class is limited to 30 participants. Participants are accepted on a first come, first served basis provided they have met the criteria in the application.
Classes explore hundreds of topics and issues related to Economic Development, Government (City, County, State), Transportation, Human Services, Communication, First Responders, Health Care and Education.
Benefits to you include gaining insight into pivotal issues, building a new network of contacts, developing personal leadership skills and identifying many new opportunities for community involvement.
Benefits to our communities include the potential for future appointed and elected officials and community leaders with increased knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to community issues.  The program develops a pool of well-trained, energized leaders who are prepared and energetic to serve. The cost of the program is $500.00.  Tuition is due upon acceptance to the class.  The fee covers meals, transportation costs, low impact ropes course, speaker costs, printing and postage. Your commitment of one day per month for nine months is important and necessary. Some sessions will begin at 8 a.m. and finish at 5 p.m. Others are from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
