CEDAR CREEK LAKE–With hot weather and Summer in full swing, our attention is turned back to learning as local students head back to school this month.
First in line is Athens ISD, with students returning Monday, Aug. 5. This is the first year for the school district’s four day instructional week, passed last year for a three-year pilot program. Benefits the school expects to see are better teacher recruitment and retention, better prepared teachers and reduced absences. There is a nine-page document on the website to help explain the program and answer questions. See athensisd.net.
Mabank ISD, Malakoff ISD and Trinidad ISD all begin Wednesday, Aug. 14. The mid-week beginning makes for a short first week of school, helping ease the transition back for some students.
Kemp ISD and Eustace ISD return to classes the following week, Wednesday, Aug. 21.
Cross Roads ISD begins their school year Thursday, Aug. 22.
