MISD names new asst. superintendent, HS principal
MABANK–Mabank Independent School District announced two new hires during their regularly scheduled school board meeting June 22.
Mabank introduced Henry C. Tracy III as their new assistant superintendent of human resources and named Charity Groom the new high school principal.
Tracy had previously spent four years as assistant principal at Mabank High School and has spent the last two years as principal at Athens High School.
“I think I can speak for the board, Clay (Tracy), it’s good to see you back in Mabank,” Mabank ISD Board President Kenneth Odom said. “Honored to be back,” Tracy said of his return to Mabank High School.
Groom served as associate principal with Mabank High School for the 2019-20 school year and is now stepping into the head principal position.
“Ms. Charity, congratulations on your position,” Odom stated. “We expect very good things out of both of you and I think you both will do a good job.”
In other business, board members:
•Held a public hearing to discuss the annual Mabank ISD Federal Programs for the 2020-2021 school year.
•Approved minutes from their May 18 regular meeting as well as minutes from their special boarding meetings May 26 and June 8.
•Heard the monthly financial board report.
•Heard the tax collection report.
•Approved a budget amendment into Function 81: Facilities and Acquisition of Land in the amount of $300,000.
•Approved a donation of two 3-D printers to the STEM/Robotics Program by Mabank High School Engineering Instructor Roger Foster.
•Approved the personnel employment and resignation report.
•Approved the application for the Federal Program Grant from the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund for the 2020-21 school year.
•Approved the purchase of Google Chromebooks from the ESSER Fund for the 2020-21 school year in the amount of $300,000.
•Approved the application for the IDEA-B Formula and IDEA-B Preschool Grant for the 2020-21 school year in the amount of $700,756.
•Approved the authorization of Mr. J.K. Hyde to submit completion of the Districts Cybersecurity Training to Texas DIR.
•Approved the contract for School Board election services, Nov. 3, 2020, with Kaufman County.
