Event runs from 9 a.m. through noon Saturday, Oct. 26 at Mabank HS
MABANK–Mabank ISD will host its second annual Wellness Weekend event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 26 at the high school.
This event will support various aspects of wellness including nutrition, social/emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing and family support.
Featured in the wellness weekend event is a 5K fun/run/walk, a yoga on the lawn session and a variety of vendors from various aspects of the wellness community.
“We are so excited about what this event can offer to our community,” Mabank ISD Communications Liaison Tonya Chapman said. “This is a chance for us to demonstrate healthy choices for our students, our employees and our community.”
The 5K will begin at 9 a.m. in front of the high school. This untimed event is geared toward getting participants warmed up and ready for the day ahead. Participants can run or walk.
“The whole family is welcome to participate,” Chapman said. “We want to encourage everyone to get up and get moving.”
At 10:30 a.m., local yoga instructor Elian Haan will lead a yoga on the lawn session. The experienced and inexperienced can participate and enjoy the session.
Attendees can enjoy the cardio opportunities or just take in the vendors who will set up during the event. Local businesses and individuals are welcome to set up booths with materials and activities that promote wellness. Booths are free.
Those interested in participating in the event or those who would like to purchase a T-shirt can contact Tonya Chapman at (903) 880-1300, extension 1325 or reach her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
