MABANK–Mabank Police and the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a Mabank home located in the Lighthouse Landing addition, April 28 in response to a 9-1-1 call. 
According to Mabank Chief of Police Keith Bradshaw, officers got a call of a shooting at the 100 block of Cape Shore Drive around 2 a.m. When law enforcement arrived at the residence, officers took Shannon Lynn Wiley, 50, into custody and found Jannsen Wiley, 28, with an apparent gunshot wound. 
“After the suspect was taken into custody and officers located the male with the apparent gunshot wound, the officers did life-saving measures. It was not found to be effective. Care Flight showed up and continued,” stated Chief Bradshaw. 
According to Mabank Police, Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace, Johnny Adams was contacted and pronounced Jannsen Wiley deceased. 
According to the Kaufman County Jail website, Shannon Lynn Wiley has been charged with murder. He was booked just before midnight April 28, is currently held on a $750,000 bond and is still confined as of press time. 
Jannsen Wiley, who was a military veteran, has a wife out of state. 
The Mabank Police Department is being assisted by the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers. The investigation is ongoing.
