Mabank takes first at Quitman tournament

QUITMAN–The Mabank boys beat Pittsburgh 35-28 in the championship game to win the Quitman Tournament over the holiday break.  
The Panthers had a slow start in the first quarter but rallied before half to take a one-point lead at the half.   
The second half of the game was close throughout as both teams struggled to score as Mabank and Pittsburg applied good defense.   
The Panthers pulled away with under a minute remaining and sealed the contest as Sean Henry and Cade Wilson converted free throws.   
Seniors Sean Henry, Cade Wilson and Jaydon Reeder were named to the All-Tournament Team.
In pool play, the Panthers had solid wins over Spring Hill 48-32 and Gilmer 67-39.   
Mabank used a 55-27 win over Carlisle to earn a spot in the championship game.
